PENDLETON FACTORY RHYTHMS

A WALK THROUGH THE BUCK HOUSE

While driving down they coast last month I was hoping to find someone to DJ the airstream events. I called my friend Justin Lowe on a whim knowing he could be anywhere in the country, Texas more than likely. To my luck he was in LA and down to play. The next day this came out and when we reached LA I took the first chance I could to go see it.  ”Linking disparate realities using architecture to create fever dreams of a countercultural past” is how Justin best describes it. The following is a walk though Bright White Underground and what remains at the Buck House in LA. The place was a safe house, a place where Dr. Arthur Cook held wild parties and bizarre experiments.   The pictures don’t really do it justice so if you’re in the area I suggest you go see it. Experience it. Immerse yourself in it. But watch what you say – the place is bugged.

That morning we woke to the sound of a nature photography class snapping away at some type of rare bird outside the Airstream. The commotion was the first rude awakening in a week of sleeping California roadside, and a welcomed one, since in an hour we had to meet our man about a mile down the road. We left our rig parked there and walked up the damp, windy street to a beautiful wood shingled house overlooking the Tamales Bay Ecological Preserve, home of artist Tom Killion.

INSIDE THE AIRSTREAM

Hey there, for all of you who missed it, I want to give you a look into the coastal caravan, OTP x Ace store on wheels. We towed this 25′ rig, slept in it, ate in it, lived in it, and when we got to LA gutted and fumigated it, and threw our colorfull assortment up on the shelves and walls to sell it all off, 4 days straight.

This is the first Patagonia wetsuit prototype that Billy, their positively positive wetsuit designer gave us. What a great dude. Billy also makes Surf Sails.

I still got a bunch of t shirts – Gram Parsons, Mother Nature, and OTP branded…

A mix of book I bought and some from Cass and Gravel and Gold.  You can’t really see it here but there is  a picture of two hippies on a horse on the cover of that book California Trip and the dudes son showed up to the party. He was stoked.
