It’s nothing short of inspiring when the passionately talented people in your life make their dream come to life. In this case my friend Rene Holguin just opened his own shop, RTH, in Los Angeles.
Rene is one of the more creative people I ever met – an inspired visionary with a sense of style that is completely his own.He grew up in El Paso, Texas and learned the boot making business from his father. Though the years he has turned that experience into his own line of  unique leather goods including bags, footwear, belts, jewelry and other accessories, (my favorites being the kilt pin and my leather feather and cedar oil dipped anchor necklace).
In addition to the shop Rene has a workshop behind the store where he and his friends make everything… In his words “it’s an accessory store inspired by the good ole souvenir shops of yester, featuring RTH limited run leathergoods and other inspiring pick up items. Native American beaded stuff, a selection of vintage clothing and some home scents”. In mine, its a look into Rene’s beautiful world and vision and you are now welcome to visit. And Breathe deep – it smells incredible. 537 N. La Cienega.

Before the One Trip Pass x Ace Hotel Coastal Caravan headed out down Hi-way 1 we stopped into The Woodlands store/ Tanner Goods Headquarters in Portland, Oregon. The great guys over there made us a limited edition leather belt and key fob. Great quality goods – I’ve been wearing my belt about two months now and its breaking in beautifully. There are still a couple left at the Ace Hotel Lobby in New York City.

A few weeks ago a new Levi’s store opened in Malibu, the first in a series of new Levi’s stores (another opened last week at 414 14th St in New York’s meatpacking district). The store sells the best of Levi’s and LVC,  a host of other brands, hand picked vintage clothing and selection of great books (including on of my all time favorites, Wim Wender’s Once). Some of the other brands include Pendleton, Upstate, Nantucket Knotworks, Cordial Churchman, Fox River Socks,  and Sunova Surf Boards. Also are store exclusives from Katin board shorts, Billy Kirk, Old War Horse Moccasins and Field Notes. Pay a visit – 2011 Cross Creek Country Mart, Malibu.

Im just getting back home after traveling for a couple weeks. One of my stops was in Washington DC. While there the Washington Post sent me to the National Mall to take pictures of kids who attended the Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert rally. Check out the full story here.
