VINCENT COLLINS ANIMATION
Just found out animator Vincent Collins lives out here in San Francisco (my new home). I first found out about him from this government funded film below, made in 1975 to promote the American bicentennial. What a colorful America. Keep in mind this was all done before the use of computers. If you’re in an okay headspace look for Malice in Wonderland. If not, don’t.
MOUNTAIN OF STORMS
In the Summer of 1968 Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard rounded up a some friends and a Volkswagon bus. The embarked on an epic 6 month road journey from San Francisco to the Chilean Patagonia, surfing, skiing and hiking along the way. Mountain of Storms is the testament. Nice to know the company’s founder is the real deal. Four years later I bet he was expensing trips like this under “getting real with the gear”. So incredible.
LEVI’S CORDS BY OPENING CEREMONY
Next Month Levi’s and Opening Ceremony will launch a cobranded line of corduroy 505′s, shorts, shirts and trucker jackets in colors like teal, pink, navy, curry, and white. More on this soon but the San Francisco store will feature an installation celebrating the story behind the collection.
SOCIAL ACES
What happens in Palm Springs, stays in Palm Springs. Unless you have to return for a court date. Either way Ned Martel’s take on the place and its Manhattan counterpart deserves a read.
